|Standing in line was easy this year. No rain, no snow.|
So, this year was a happy/sad occasion. I plowed through stacks and stacks of fabulous books and picked up several treasures. A lovely old photo book on Montreal from the 1930's....an illustrated children's book on cats from the same period.....a book on Madame de Pompadour (and I thought I had them all). Well, you get the idea. I overheard one man say to another:
"I've been searching for this book for years! I don't care what the price is, it's finally mine"!!
He then announced the cost was $2.00. I know just how he felt. It's a discovery. It's a find. It's a personal achievement to find that elusive title.
I'll truly miss the McGill Book Fair and so will all the others who've been faithfully attending year after year.
So to all the organizers and volunteers who have put in so much time and effort -
Thanks for all the gems you've given us. We're all richer for your wonderful work and we'll miss you!
