A Paris Night

Some thoughts of Paris, a glimpse of the Eiffel, and all's well in my world on this rainy night.
Every man has two countries, his own and France.
Benjamin Franklin
My eyes do not grow weary in gazing at this Paris, so full of marvels;  Paris, the City of Light, as Victor Hugo called it with such truth, beyond dispute the most beautiful of all cities.
Sir Wilfred Laurier

France has the only two things toward which we drift as we grow older- intelligence and good manners.
F. Scott Fitzgerald

They crossed the Place de la Concorde as only Frenchmen can; that is to say they sauntered through the traffic chatting away, looking neither to right nor left.
Nancy Mitford

If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.
Ernest Hemingway

America is my country and Paris is my hometown.
Gertrude Stein
When good Americans die, they go to Paris.
Oscar Wilde

I love Paris in the spring time
I love Paris in the fall
I love Paris in the summer, when it sizzles
I love Paris in the winter, when it drizzles
Cole Porter

Paris is a hard place to leave, even when it rains incessantly and one coughs continually from the dampness.
Willa Cather
I love to walk for hours
High on the scent of flowers
Why is it that old Eiffel Tower
So overpowers me?
On a sunny day in May.....
Charles Aznavour

  1. I wish I were there now. The messe anniversaire Edith Piaf is this Saturday at Chapel Pere Lachaise.

  2. Ah I would love to be there too. I visited her grave at Pere Lachaise - I could spend a month there. (Actually, I could spend eternity there - I wonder if I could get someone to spread my ashes)?

  3. By the way - not NOW. Later....much later!

  4. Ok, I've never been interested in going to Paris. Until now. Beautiful pix!

  5. Paris is truly so beautiful no pictures can do it justice (but glad you like them)! Put it at the top of your travel list! I can hardly wait to go back.
