What? Again?

HEY HO!  I’m here!

If you thought I was dead or perhaps lost my mind, well you’re half right.  (If you guessed ‘dead’, no prize for you).  I am, however, a bit on the insane side because we’re packing, sorting and tossing getting ready for another move.  ANOTHER MOVE.  After staying on the same street for a huge part of our adult lives, we’re packing up for the third time in a few years.  We’re moving to a condo/loft this time which I’m realizing is going to be tricky compared to a place with actual, um…. rooms.  I’m not quite sure how to label the boxes or direct the movers -

“Living room….is…uh….somewhere about here….or maybe not…..maybe that’ll be an office……or not……..I don’t know…what do you think”?

The thing is, with all this moving I’m starting to feel a kinship with nomads.

According to Wikipedia -

A nomad is a person with no settled home, who moves from place to place as a way of obtaining food, or otherwise making a living.
True.  I need to be much closer to a grocery store and a reliable bus/subway to get to work.   Simple bare necessities.

Most nomadic groups follow a fixed annual or seasonal pattern of movements and settlements.
True.  In Montreal July 1st is “moving day”.  You can’t get more seasonal than that.

In case you don't believe me! Ikea knows!

Nomadic peoples traditionally travel by animal or canoe or on foot. Today, some nomads travel by motor vehicle.
True.  A Jaguar would be my preference. Canoe is out of the question.  It would have to be strapped to the roof of the Jag.

I like my wild animals and cars combined

Most nomads usually move in the same region and don't travel very far to a totally different region.
True.  Same city, different view.

Most often, a family would not have the resources to move from one province to another unless they are moving out of the area permanently.
True.  If we were moving out of the area permanently we’d be heading to Paris.  Do they have nomads on the Left Bank?  Probably. Everyone goes to Paris.

Many governments dislike nomads because it is difficult to control their movement and to obtain taxes from them.
False.  The government has absolutely no problem in taking a chunk of my salary twice a month.  They always seem to find me.

Anyhoo, once this is all over I'll be back.  If I can find my computer that is.
