Can you believe Christmas is almost here? Again! I'm not ready mentally. Or shopping-wise. Not baking-wise, card-wise, wrapping-wise, cleaning-wise......not any wise.
And everything is a reminder.....
"Let's talk turkey"!
"You quit smoking"?
"I went cold turkey"
"Me too but I still pine for it"
See what I mean?
Anyway, I am almost ready tree-wise. It's up and pretty. (Every year we pick up an ornament with the year on it. I haven't done that yet this year but you get the idea from the 2011 snowman just above, ahem, the Eiffel).
Naturally Paris sneaks into our tree. What would Christmas be without a reminder of Paris? That would be....I don't know.....abnormal!
I'm a sucker for Christmas lights. A tree, a string or two of lights outside - it's grand.
I watched a show on "Extreme Christmas Lights" last week. Uh.........I don't know what to say. I appreciate all the work some people do, but really......GET A GRIP! The tree in Rockefeller Plaza has approximately 30,000 lights. That's nothing. When a guy in the suburbs can have 50,000 lights AND animated characters AND rides for the kids.....I'm speechless. I have no speech. Apparently some of the people doing this can't have any power on in the house while the outdoor lights are on - the surge would knock out.....well who knows? Maybe the whole West coast....or East coast......or all of London. Maybe entire continents would blow up! I think that's a few lights too many.
|Rockefeller Plaza - Wow!|
If you remember National Lampoon's "Christmas Vacation", you'll appreciate the work that goes into Extreme Christmas Decorating.
|The Griswold family had the most lights in the neighborhood - "Christmas Vacation"|
Anyway, to each his own and if some people can't have enough lights, that's good too. I'm de-lighted. Get it? De-lighted. OK. I'm done.
