Summer 2011 in Montreal

Get ready. Things are starting to happen and I see fun on the horizon!

Before I go any further, I have a beef. I don’t think it’s right to have any of these events going on during weekdays. Is it fair to tell us that Crescent St. is closed and everyone is having waaaaay too much fun to be believed? I…..don’t ……think……so! I’m on the 10th floor and I can actually HEAR music and people laughing and enjoying themselves. OK. They’re on vacation and I’m not. But still. Maybe I should just close the blinds. Maybe, ignorance is bliss……..maybe I just don’t want to know…….

…..But, in case you do want to know, here’s a sample of upcoming events!

June 9 to 18

Les Francofolies de Montréal This will be the 23rd year of this event. 10 days of concerts and great music. Check out the site for the artists performing this year!

June 10 to 12

The Grand Prix  Even if you’re not into racing, the city is exciting during these days. Crescent Street will be closed so FABULOUS cars can be on display for everyone to admire.  And if you are into racing, this is the place to be!

June 25 to July 4

Montreal Jazz Festival. Music all over the city. Aside from the concerts, there is music in the streets and in the parks.  Jazz, blues and more.

June 30 through Month of July

International Fireworks Competition. 10 nights of fireworks and music from various countries. The last night is a tribute to The Beatles.

July 10 to 31

Just for Laughs  Guaranteed to make you feel good.  (Last year we saw Steve Martin - great show)!

August 18 to 28

International Film Festival

And and and…….

If you’re visiting Montreal this summer, I’m sure you’ll have a great time!  Don't listen to any crabby people that are protesting to have all this on weekends only.  Ignore me.  I mean them.  Have fun!

PS  For fans of fashion, there is a Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the MontrĂ©al Museum of Fine ArtsJune 17 to October 2.

  2. Oh the joy's and tribulations of "Big City" living almost makes me want to pick up sticks and move to one.
Does the new appartment have a spare room and have cleaned it out yet? If so is it up for let.
