Insomnia Anyone?

Our Buster can sleep
through anything!
Last night I couldn’t sleep. You know that awful feeling. Half in, half out. It’s so discouraging knowing it’s getting closer and closer to that awful sound of the morning alarm. Exhausted, not awake enough to read, not really capable of doing anything but lie there listening to night noises, I get desperate!

IF……ONLY…….I……COULD…….JUST…..FALL……ASLEEP!   This is when I start talking to myself (in my head of course).

OK, time to play a game to make myself drowsy.

I’ll see how many words I can think of beginning with the letter…….

'K'  Right. Let’s see, there’s knife, knock, knit……………no, “K” is too hard at this hour when I’m only half awake. I’ll try…….

'S' It’s an easier letter. Soup. Socks. Silly. Salmon. Salmonella. Sniff. Splat......Splunk....... Sanpop.......... Sopopo……Ha ha ha. Those aren’t even real words and I’m waking myself up.

New game. How about naming countries going through the alphabet? That’s a good one.

Antarctica. No, that’s not a country

Ba…..Be……Bi……I’ll come back to B

C No brainer – Cambodia

Ea….Eb…..Ec…..I’ll come back to E

Damn……I skipped D! Now I have to start over.

This was obviously was not a good way to get myself to sleep. First of all my brain was hardly functioning, and secondly I was getting frustrated that I couldn’t play my own stupid games!

I saw several sites on the web with recommendations to help sleep. One of the big ones is counting games. COUNTING GAMES! If only I had looked before! NOT LETTERS, NUMBERS!

The next time I can’t sleep I’ll give it a try and will let you know how it works out.
