The Root of All Evil

New Warning Labels Required
Whoever coined the expression "money is the root of all evil" knew what he was talking about.  (Why can't I remember this? I'll Google it and get back to you).  We all need to constantly think of money.  I know this because there are so many songs written about the subject (first that comes to mind is "Money Money" from Cabaret). Unfortunately, we can't get along without it -

  • We all need housing one way or another.  Check.

  • Food - an absolute must.  Check.

  • Clothing - yup.  No naked people walking down the street.  Check.

  • Utilities, credit cards, transportation blah blah blah.  There's no end to it!

This system isn't working for me.  No matter what I do, I always need more cash.  Ok, I don't really need all the things I buy.  I don't really need perfume. On the other hand, I don't really need towels.  I can air dry.  See what I mean?  Why do we have to make such difficult decisions?

Maybe, like cigarettes, there should be warnings on the nonessential items:

'This product could be hazardous to your health causing bankruptcy and other unpleasant circumstances including second hand spending problems"

On the other hand, if we stop buying everything we don't need, there are also ugly consequences.  Unemployment for those working in the luxury goods industries; manufacturing, packaging, distribution, retail.......

Oh NO!  I won't be responsible for that!

The Quote:
"Money is the root of all evil" is a misquote according to Wikipedia.  It's from the Bible and should read "The love of money is the root of all evil".

Well I'm safe.  I don't love it at all.  In fact, everything being free would be the best!
